Two golds and a silver—out of a field of 170 entries! That’s what Labeltronix recently won in the narrow web category of the Excellence in Flexography Awards, an international competition.
To top that off, at another event, we won "Best of Category" from the Printing Industry Association of Southern California for the Diamond Collection Label.
“Everyone has raised the bar in both technology and execution," said Paul Teachout, a judge for the past four years, quoted in the FTA program. And the judges were hard on the entries. There was a 10% drop in the number of awards given out, according to the Flexographic Technical Association, which hosted the awards.
The judge’s comments for each Labeltronix winner highlight the technical accomplishments for these standouts:
Gold – Narrow Web, Process, Coated Paper
Chateau Diana Winery – I Am California Red Wine Label
Judge: "Great ink coverage, crisp printing, great registration and incredible screens."

Silver – Narrow Web Process, Metallized
Casa Agria Vein of Stars India Pale Ale Label
Judge: "Very fine screening that stayed open, done with difficult registration."
About the competition itself, one judge said the samples continue to improve every year, making what qualifies as “award worthy” much rarer. The entries all demonstrated “a high level of excellence,” said judge Bob Loescher of Nilpeter USA, Inc.
Chartered in 1958, the Flexographic Technical Association represents 1,400 member companies and their tens of thousands of employees. The FTA’S Excellence in Flexography Awards is the industry’s longest running and most prestigious annual print competition.
