INSPIRATION CORNER

A bond forged by two ex-military men who met as contractors in Afghanistan turned into their partnership as distillers in California.

Considering their world travels and toughness, you'd think the ex-Marine and ex-Army man would have no trouble finding labels. But they had to go on a mission to find the best labels, too. Read the J. Riley Distillery story here.

ASK THE LABEL EXPERT

Q: How much advance notice do you need to print my labels? I don't want to get caught in a time crunch.

A: Thanks for asking about lead time! We'll start with a few questions for you:

  • Do you have press-ready artwork—and is this a standard print job WITHOUT fancy embellishments like foil/emboss or spot varnish? Then the lead time is about 2-3 weeks. That's assuming you approve your proofs in a timely manner and that there are no changes needed within the order/proofing process. If you are extremely color critical, or require changes, it will extend the lead time beyond 3 weeks.
  • Do you have press-ready artwork—and you WANT EMBELLISHMENTS in your print job such as foil/emboss or spot varnish? Then the lead time is about 3-4 weeks. Again, that assumes you approve your proofs in a timely manner and there are no changes needed within the order/proofing process. If you are extremely color critical, or require changes, it will extend the lead time beyond 4 weeks.
  • If you don't have artwork ready to go, our first step is to refer you to some designers to see who's the best fit to begin the design process for you.

Contact us with the specifics of your project so we can better explain what to expect for lead times.
