Label Design Tips

>> By Shawn Plunkett, Label Specialist

Today, labels must DEMAND attention. Since competition for consumers’ attention has never been fiercer, they almost have to shout: “LOOK OVER HERE! CHECK OUT THIS PRODUCT!”

Graphic designers face the creative challenge of making labels stand out. At Labeltronix, we enjoy working with our clients’ graphic designers to give consumers the eye-catching labels they expect to see.

With more colorful and complex designs these days, we’ve learned the value in helping designers understand how label printing processes differ from the printing processes they might be familiar with in other media.

By creating “pre-flight” partnerships, we can make adjustments in early stages so we don’t have complications at press-time. That’s why we try to identify potential problems in the quoting stage.

Here are some more ways we can help you make your labels standouts:
  • Color Capabilities. With more colors than ever on the market, you can get the match you want by using our color chart. Request Color Chart today!

  • Process Capabilities. At Labeltronix, we are proud to offer both Digital and Flexographic printing on state-of-the-art equipment.

Each piece of machinery has its abilities, and its limitations. By discussing these with the graphic designer well before the label run, he/she can create with these parameters in mind.

For short to medium runs, our HP Indigo digital press is the best option to produce high-quality, 4-color process labels.
For long runs, we use our Nilpeter FA3 press. This allows us to print high- quality runs in both 4-color process and Pantone spot colors. Hot stamp foil and emboss can be added to any job.

  • Design Review. By checking early designs, we can make recommendations that will ensure successful reproduction in our printing processes.

  • Most Common Problems. By knowing what the most common issues are, designers can usually avoid them. The two we see most often are:

Tight Registration of all Printing Components
    Color Matching Challenges
